Glam but not really rock, the first incarnation of Roxy Music with experimental electronics maniac Brian Eno – a line-up from which For Your Pleasure is the second and final offering – was more in the vein of avant-pop, vaguely reminiscent of German bands like Can and Neu! but wrapped in its own unique, decadent aesthetic. On top of the music come lyrics that purvey eccentric themes of alienation and obsession, all making For Your Pleasure the most outlandish and original English album of its time.
