The second classic metal album recorded in Sweden during 1989, Entombed’s Left Hand Path fully reflects the impact of American death metal on the Swedish scene. Left Hand Path was recorded at Sunlight Studios, which would thereafter be known as the home of “Swedish death metal” and renowned for its trademark sick guitar tone. Passages vaguely recognizable as deriving from “rock” may be discerned occasionally amid the seething electric carnage of this all-destroying album, a trend which would ultimately distinguish Swedish metal from its American equivalent.
