A record of seminal darkness from France, emanating from the ranks of Les Légions Noires, a notorious black metal vampire cult based in Brittany. Recorded before Mütiilation’s better-known Vampires Of Black Imperial Blood but not released until 1999 (as part of a compilation entitled Remains Of A Ruined, Dead, Cursed Soul), Evil: The Gestalt Of Abomination is a crudely-produced rage from the terror-tombs with muffled, unsteady percussion, hellish shrieks and a guitar sound so violently distorted that it borders on abstract noise. Mütiilation’s tempest of black sulphuric torment expresses abhorrence of human cattle and mourning for an ancient, nocturnal world receding into myths of abject horror.
