The peak of Darkthrone’s quest for savage beauty in dissonance and distortion, released under the banner of “Norwegian Aryan Black Metal”. Evil, Satan and church-burning are still evident preoccupations of the cult here, along with this declaration of racial purity which is reflected in the album’s raw primordial music. Transilvanian Hunger honours its title with a vampiric eruption of black noise, draining reality’s corpse to leave only a frozen husk among the ruins.
