The second essential experimental rock double album of the 90s emanated from New Zealand where The Dead C recorded Trapdoor Fucking Exit, laying the groundwork for a movement which would later be described as “post-rock” in some circles. Over its seventy minutes Trapdoor Fucking Exit evolves from chaotic industrial noise-ballads to extended passages of black ambient terror, demarcating a funeral zone where rock’s immolation is celebrated by a sacrificial slaughter of the sensorium and the hanged man’s eyes weep tears of boiling blood.
