With Green River CCR realised their creative peak, refining the elements from Bayou Country into a series of mainly 2-3 minute tracks which approach something near pop-rock perfection. The album includes no less than 3 hit singles, headed by “Bad Moon Rising” which remains unsurpassable in its succinct expression of dread transmuted into perverse revelry. As a celebration of day into night, Green River achieves a depth of sophistication beyond the reach of CCR’s more lauded but toothless contemporaries.
