One of the first of many essential 80s albums released by the SST label, Meat Puppets is a foundational acid-punk recording. Created during a 3-day LSD trip, Meat Puppets delivers fourteen tracks in just over 21 minutes of inspired and twisted mania, defining the perfect parameters of a succinct masterpiece whose influence would reverberate throughout the subsequent decade. Two cover versions, A4 and B1, incidentally comprise the only meaningful interpretations of country music by a “rock”-based band since Crazy Horse.
